About Us
Welcome to Jolly Ujyolia!
Jolly (English): expressing or inspiring lively happiness and good cheer; joyous.
Ujyolia (Yaqui): beauty.
About us
The Yaqui tribe, known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions, has a deep connection to the land and its artistry. The Yaqui people, or Yoeme, primarily inhabit the River Yaqui valley in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. They have a long history of resilience and cultural preservation, maintaining their unique traditions and language despite challenges across time.
Our founder's grandfather stemmed from this Mexican tribe. Through the brand Jolly Ujyolia we want to honor this heritage and richness and fulfill our mission, which goes to our heart and roots.
Our mission
At Jolly Ujyolia, we are dedicated to supporting artisans on their journey to share their joyous and beautiful creations across cultures. Our mission is to showcase the incredible craftsmanship that Mexico has to offer to the world. We understand that many artisans face challenges to extend beyond local and regional markets, so we are embarking on a mission to bridge that gap, aiming to bring beautiful, high-quality products that foster prosperity.
From Recycled to Remarkable
Our handbags are crafted from recycled plastic, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. We take sustainability seriously—not just in our products but in our shipping practices too. Our packaging is made from recycled cardboard with a high content of post-consumer waste, and we strive to minimize packaging whenever possible. When options are available, we carefully select the most sustainable ones to reduce our environmental impact.
Our artisan Elaom (partners)
We strive to be a direct liaison between Mexican artisans and the end customer, ensuring that a significant portion of the retail price goes straight to the talented hands that create these beautiful crafts. By doing so, we aim to empower artisans, support their livelihoods, and ensure they receive the recognition and fair compensation they deserve.
> Our first artisan partnership is with Lucas' family, who have entrusted us with their mission. Lucas is a brave child from Oaxaca who has been fighting valiantly for his life since birth. These are bags with a purpose: each purchase helps Lucas continue his fight for life, contributing to buying medicine and improving his quality of life. Together, we aim to bring about meaningful change and share the beauty of Mexican artistry with the world.
Thank you for supporting our mission. Our products are of the highest quality and are designed to fit joyously and beautifully into your lifestyle. We appreciate your support in making a difference.
